The Dotson Brothers

The Dotson Brothers bring home the old-time energy of a mountain Hillbilly with a touch of deep-southern blues. Their lyrics are inspired by American history, the rural poor as well as stories from the lives of the trio. The music is a mix of comedy and despair alongside the energy of rock and roll with only guitars and vocals. The songs were written with the living room and the street corner in mind, a simple ensemble in which the band can perform anywhere.

The Dotson Brothers are from Missouri, born in the town of Sedalia, crux of the old cattle routes and same to the railroad lines that merged in its heart. Their stories will take you to New Orleans, across the prairie to the dust bowl and to Kansas City. The Dotson Brothers are inspired by their rich ancestry and wish to capture fragments of a remote past, piecing them together with an energy that makes us believe that the old styles never died. One of the fascinating features of this trio is the diversity of voice among the group. The oldest brother, Oscar, sings with a deep gravely voice of a blues man, while Jesop, sounds like a wiry hillbilly, and finally Steve, the youngest, plays the role of straight-man and delivers a more classically trained vocal range.
