Travis Demoss – Teddy Bear (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

This is a poem that my friend James wrote and allowed me to put music. I put music to it the night before this recording and really did leave the music at home. About all I could remember was the first chord and am surprised this came off as well as it did because I couldn’t remember where the next chord went throughout the song. It seems to flow pretty well though for being made up on the spot.

Institutions Of The Heart – James Bryant 02 11 2011

The coldness of steel
Bars in my hands

The coldness of shining
Stars in my eyes

Captured… In states of confusion
I wander often

Shattered… In states of pain
I cry often

This darkness in me… That hateful art
Institutions of the heart

Travis Demoss – Afraid To Die (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

I’m not sure where this song came from – I do remember from time to time in my life thinking about death and the older I get the less I fear the outcome of death. The line that states “He may love me even more” is a shout out to those who have passed away and I loved a great deal. I can only imagine that they are rooting for me from wherever they are and I’m sure I feel their love shining on my face when I sing that line.

Travis Demoss – Into You (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

One of my favorite guitar licks. A simple little song about a guy that digs this girl and is far too afraid to make an approach. If this song had a video it would be of a guy following this girl and singing to her but she can’t hear him. I’ve been that guy more than I care to admit.

Sailor – Steve Dotson 02 11 2011

Relations of a ship

That great vessel, my body and mind

Sailing those oceans of emotions, in search of life

Under that star spangled night

great pain, my heart wrenching lost

Paling to the greater of Gods.

Creations of a slip

Falling… that monumental weight of despair inundating me

On back, eyes flashing bright, dimming the cold ignorance of starlight

I’m the sailor

Paler to the darkness,

which seizes onto me like an anchor

I’m the tailor

Fastening these fabrics of memories tightly about me

A tiny light flares… then dies…

Smoke plumes through my smiling lips

A tiny tilt of the head

Hair of hers cascading

down my shoulders

A murmur of rigid recognition

So as the anchor sinks, my frightening facade lifts

I’m the sailor

Sailing the seven seas in me

I’m no longer pale

Paler to the light which sparkles in her eyes

Travis Demoss – Down The Cloud (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

This was a song I wrote and tried to hide its theme – sex. I could have done a much better job remembering the chord pattern on this recording. Not worthy of going on the CD.

Travis Demoss – Pieces (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

This is a song that my friend Tim Whitmore wrote and I put music to. This is now a regular song in our church services. It’s a wonderful song of faith and dear to my heart. I hope to write more music with Tim in the future.

Travis Demoss – Crazy Uncle Charlie (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

I wrote this song after meeting my wife’s Uncle – yea his name was Charlie. Again I don’t play this one a lot as it won’t make the cut for the CD project
- but I like this song a lot.

Travis Demoss – A Cold One (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

This is just a stupid little song that a buddy gave me the title for and I went on to fill in the rest. The crowd at Wine and More knows it as the hickey
song. This one will not be on the CD. You can tell I practice this one a lot by this recording.

Travis Demoss – Heartbeat (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

Nothing special about this song. Just some words and chords. I think it’s going to turn out to be neat little pop song when the band gets a hold of it.

Travis Demoss – Pilot Grove Rodeo (Bootleg 02 11 2011)

I woke up at 2am one night and went downstairs to the guitar and wrote this song in about 15 minutes. I was actually singing it in my head when I woke up.

This song might make it on the upcoming CD – we’ll see. The bridge mentions my sister Stacey who raced barrel horses and really did run a 13.9 one of the
drunken nights I went to the Rodeo. Actually all of the names mentioned in this song are real people – friends and family.
