Sailor – Steve Dotson 02 11 2011
Relations of a ship
That great vessel, my body and mind
Sailing those oceans of emotions, in search of life
Under that star spangled night
great pain, my heart wrenching lost
Paling to the greater of Gods.
Creations of a slip
Falling… that monumental weight of despair inundating me
On back, eyes flashing bright, dimming the cold ignorance of starlight
I’m the sailor
Paler to the darkness,
which seizes onto me like an anchor
I’m the tailor
Fastening these fabrics of memories tightly about me
A tiny light flares… then dies…
Smoke plumes through my smiling lips
A tiny tilt of the head
Hair of hers cascading
down my shoulders
A murmur of rigid recognition
So as the anchor sinks, my frightening facade lifts
I’m the sailor
Sailing the seven seas in me
I’m no longer pale
Paler to the light which sparkles in her eyes
